Email to a friendPost a CommentPrinter-friendlySenator Diane Feinstein, a California Democrat who as mayor of San Francisco vetoed a domestic partners bill, has come a long way. She is featured on a hard-hitting ad against the anti-gay marriage initiative, saying, "I've seen discrimination in my lifetime. And I see it again in Proposition 8."

She calls it "a terrible mistake for California" that "changes our Constitution" and "eliminates fundamental rights, and treats people differently under law."

Feinstein's ad answers some of the opposition ads by saying, "Proposition 8 is not about schools or our kids. It's about discrimination and we must always say no to that. No matter how you feel about marriage, vote against discrimination."

Classical violinist Yitzhak Perlman is doing an ad against the measure on behalf of his lesbian daughter, who married her partner in California.

And on Spanish language TV, a No on 8 ad features "Ugly Betty" star America Ferrara with cast members Tony Plana and Ana Ortiz. "Voting no on Prop 8 is not just about gay rights," Ferrara says in the ad. "It's about preserving the integrity of equal rights in this country."

Plana says, "Family is very important to Latinos. Prop 8 discriminates against families and everything we stand for."

And Ortiz says, "Latinos have family members and friends who are gay and deserve the same rights all of us have."
